Office space is important to the success of any business. It’s where employees come to focus on their work and cooperate with their colleagues. That’s why it’s so important to create an office space that is both functional and comfortable. And that’s where interior design and fit outs come in. Both interior design and fit outs are essential to creating a successful office space. But while they share some common elements, they are two distinct processes that require different approaches. But it can be easy to confuse the two so we’ve taken it upon ourselves to analyse them and see what differences they have.
A fit out, or also known as an office fit out is the process of refurbishing and furnishing an office space to meet the specific needs of a business. This can include anything from installing new partitions to fitting new bespoke furniture. A well-designed office fit out can have a number of benefits for a business, including improving employee productivity and morale, attracting new clients, and creating a more professional image.
Interior design is the science and art of enhancing the interior of a building in order to achieve a healthier and more aesthetically pleasing environment for the people who use the space. An interior designer is someone who plans, researches, coordinates, and manages such projects. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that includes several aspects such as: conceptual development, space planning, site inspections, accessibility requirements, construction drawings, and decorating. In some places, interior designers must be licensed to practise the profession.
So, interior design is all about creating a space that is aesthetically pleasing and meets the specific needs and desires of the occupants, and can involve anything from choosing the right colour scheme to selecting premium office furniture and installations that promote productivity and creativity. Whereas office fit outs on the other hand, are all about ensuring that the office space is fully ready for use. This includes everything from refurbishing an existing office to outfitting a new one with furniture and networking systems. Hopefully this blog has helped to differentiate the two from one another!
